YOUR GUIDES

Hello from Lauren and Andrés, your yoga and nature guides on this retreat experience :)

Andrés is a cultural anthropologist with a passion for people, nature and photography. He loves his island and he has been guiding for the past 10+ years in the mountains, on glaciers, and on the roads as a mountain/driver- and snowmobile guide and a certified glacier guide.

He comes from a long line of artists, having lived all over the island and travelled the world from early age he has a special connection with the local people and a great ability to understand and connect to people from different parts of the world.

Lauren is a physiotherapist and yoga instructor. Born and raised in Southern Ontario, now residing in Kelowna BC, she has been working in the field of physiotherapy since 2016 and as a yoga instructor since 2014. She has fostered her love of movement and nature since she was a child through hiking, gardening, horseback riding, cold swimming, and yoga. She finds deep fulfillment incorporating these into her career and sharing them with others in any way she can.

Lauren and Andrés co-created this retreat and have run it for 2 years in the stunning country of Iceland. With their intention being to foster connection to nature, one self, and fellow humans.

We both look forward to connecting, moving, and adventuring with you!

ITINERARY

DAY 1 - OCTOBER 4

WELCOME to Iceland!

You will be picked up at the airport in your private Sprinter Minibus, with the rest of the group, by your host, Lauren, and your local tour guide, Andrés, to embark on your first day.

On your way to Reykjavík you will enjoy a stop for breakfast to start off your day.

Afterwards, you will experience the natural baths of the Blue Lagoon. A wonderful way to relax and restore after your travels!

You will then travel on to your accommodations in Reykjavík to drop off your luggage.

Following, you will have the opportunity to explore the city via a food walk. Allowing you the opportunity to see and taste your way around the delights of Iceland's capital at a leisurely pace.

Later in the evening, Lauren will guide you through a restorative yoga class to invite you to further unwind from a full day and set you up for a peaceful sleep.

DAY 2 - OCTOBER 5

It's your first full day in Iceland!

You will begin your morning with your guided meditation and journalling session with Lauren to set you up prior to your adventures of the day.

After a nourishing breakfast you will say goodbye to Reykjavík (for now) as you head out with Lauren and Andrés on the first leg of your journey!

You will explore many of Iceland's South Coast natural wonders on this first full day including areas such as the beautiful and historically significant Þingvellir National Park, stunning waterfalls, and perhaps a Geysir or two!

During the morning you will practice yoga outside, guided by Lauren, surrounded by Iceland's natural beauty.

Around midday you will stop to enjoy a unique local lunch along the way in the Friðheimar Tomato Farm greenhouse.

After concluding the day's exploration, you will arrive at your next accommodation in the evening, around the Hella area, where you will enjoy a delicious local dinner.

Later in the evening you can join our look-out for the Northern Lights!

 DAY 3 - OCTOBER 6

Good morning! Today begins with your guided meditation and journaling with Lauren, followed by breakfast before setting off on your next full day of guided exploration, into an area of The Highlands known as The Landmannalaugar Nature Reserve!

Integrated into the morning's adventures is your invigorating outdoor yoga class with Lauren. You will enjoy a pre-packed lunch out in nature with the group. Beyond yoga, Andrés will drive you by geothermal pools, monumental mountains, and more, while providing interesting information along the way. You will explore Rauðaskál on foot, a stunning volcano crater. You may even have the chance to relax in a natural swimming pool secluded out in nature!

After your day of exploration, you will return to your accommodation, in the Hella area, where you will have a delicious local dinner with the group.

If you have the energy to stay awake, you can join the look-out for the Northern Lights!

DAY 4 - OCTOBER 7

Welcome to day four! You will start today with a nourishing breakfast as well as packing up as you're off to stay at your next location.

Today you will have the chance to experience many natural wonders along Iceland's South Coast, including up close stunning views including waterfalls and canyons, the coastal village of Vík, and your private guided glacier trek! During this trek you will pause for your guided meditation with Lauren.

You will enjoy lunch on-route with the group.

After a full day, you will arrive at your next accommodation, in the Öræfi area, where you will enjoy dinner as well as an accessible, connecting, and playful partner-yoga class with Lauren.

And of course, you are welcome to join the Northern Lights look-out later in the evening!

DAY 5 - OCTOBER 8

Ahh, good morning! You begin with a relaxing guided meditation and journaling session with Lauren followed by a nourishing breakfast to set you up for the rest of your day.

We will depart for your private guided tour with Andrés through Vatnajökull National Park to experience even more of Iceland's unique landscape. You will visit the beautiful Black Sand Diamond Beach and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.

We will add to the adventure with your very own breathtaking ice cave tour! A one-of-a-kind experience, as these ice caves change year to year as the ice melts and freezes.

We will stop for lunch at Hali farm where you will enjoy a satisfying, local, traditional meal.

You will arrive back at your accommodation, in the Öræfi area, in time for dinner. Following dinner (after some time to digest, of course), Lauren will guide you through a deep flow yoga class aimed at opening up some typically tighter areas of the body (like those often tight hips). There will be another of our nightly Northern Lights look-outs that you can join later on.

DAY 6 - OCTOBER 9

Today is the day we loop back to Reykjavík! Your morning will start off with breakfast before the day's adventures.

The drive back to Reykjavík will be filled with fantastic views, complimented by interesting information from Andrés. You will stop for lunch in Vík Village. You will also get to make some stops along the journey to explore Iceland's spectacular South Coast nature highlights on foot including black sand beaches, lava fields, and water falls, as well as participate in your last guided meditation session with Lauren.

As you re-enter Reykjavík you will stop for a stunning and restorative experience at the Sky Lagoon Geothermal Spa. You will be granted a spectacular view of the North Atlantic Ocean to soak up as you relax and unwind in warm geothermal pools. As an added bonus: you have the opportunity to submerge in a cold plunge pool if your looking to add a bit of invigoration to your soaking experience!

Once you return to the heart of Reykjavík, it's time to settle into your accommodation.

Shortly after, we will meet as a group to enjoy a farewell dinner at a delicious local restaurant!

The rest of the night is all yours.

DAY 7 - OCTOBER 10 

We have come to the day we depart. What a wonderful adventure it was!
